Shipping charges are displayed in your basket as you add items. The cost displayed is for our standard shipping service that covers the UK. The service and cost are calculated by the weight of the items you order. As the weight of the order increases, the services we use switch from the Royal Mail to Parcelforce. Parcelforce do have delivery restrictions according to postcode, so the final shipping charge may be recalculated after you have entered a delivery address.
We use Royal Mail First Class for magazines only, for up to 4 magazines. Royal Mail First Class Recorded for all other orders up to 1Kg and less than 90cm in length. ParcelForce 48 for all orders above 1Kg or 90cm in length.

In particular, Parcelforce do not cover the Channel Islands. Please contact us so that we can arrange delivery to one of the islands.
Customers requiring delivery outside the UK should request a shipping quote before they complete their order. This option is available from the checkout. We strongly advise customers not to complete the order and pay before they have received a shipping quote. International shipping is very expensive, time consuming, and extremely difficult to estimate accurately. Few but the most determined customers follow an international order through. An absolute priority is to first ensure that we have good email contact with the customer!
Spellow House is open over Christmas, but our suppliers and shipping companies are not. Dispatches close to Christmas may well be severely delayed. If in doubt, please check before you order! The best policy when it comes to Christmas and the New Year is to order early!
All shipments are accompanied on the day of dispatch with an email informing the customer that the order has been dispatched and giving all relevant details, such as the shipping company and tracking information. Most shipments require a signature on receipt, and so require the customer to be at home during delivery. Most shipments are delivered on a weekday and, in particular, Parcelforce can only deliver on a weekday. All companies will attempt to delivery more than once and will leave notes asking you to contact them to arrange a convenient time. With Parcelforce, if the customer fails to contact the Parcelforce to arrange a delivery date, after a week the parcel will be returned to Spellow House. If this happens, Spellow House will have to pay a return charge and second delivery charge at the actual cost which is a minimum of £16, which the customer will be responsible for. We apologise for this high level of charge, but unfortunately, this is standard Parcelforce practice. We will, however, pursue a claim with Parcelforce for the additional charges, should the customer feel this is necessary. Other Royal Mail Services do not charge a return fee so the customer is only responsible for the redelivery charge.

Please note that furniture is often dispatched on pallets with large amounts of protective packing. Unfortunately, the delivery companies can not help you unpack or move the furniture into your house. We strongly advise that you make room in your garage, if you have one, for the delivery company to place the furniture so that you can unwrap it at your convenience. Items come pre-assembled so you may also need assistance in unpacking and moving large items of heavy furniture. Please consider this before you make your purchase.
For furniture deliveries, the delivery company requires your telephone number. They will not deliver furniture without a contact number. This is because of the difficulty of delivering large items, they like to check that you are in to accept the delivery. Use of the number is at their discretion and they may decide not to call before they make the delivery.

All dispatches are accompanied with an email, informing you of the dispatch and the expected delivery date. This email may come from Spellow House, or from Parcelforce, if Parcelforce are used. If there is a tracking number, this will be given in the email.
Regretfully, Spellow House can not be held responsible for shipping delays caused by the companies used to convey our products. In some cases, however, fixed, partial compensation may be payable by the shipping company in the case of late delivery.
Every single item sold by Spellow House is checked before it is shipped. In this way we try to assure you that we will not waste your time by delivering broken or damaged goods.
